KGM Musso EV: Fully Electric Ute Arrives in Australia at $60,000! (2025)

The electric vehicle revolution is here, and it's shaking up the Australian market! South Korean brand KGM (formerly Ssangyong) has just unveiled its first electric ute, and it's causing a stir with its surprisingly affordable pricing. But is it too good to be true?

The KGM Musso EV is ready to hit the roads down under, starting at a mere $60,000 before on-road costs. This is a significant development, especially considering the initial expectations of a $70,000 price tag based on European pricing. The Musso EV is set to compete with the popular BYD Shark 6 PHEV ute, which starts at $57,900.

But here's where it gets interesting: the Musso EV is fully electric, offering a more sustainable option for those seeking practicality and efficiency. With a length of 5.16 meters and a tare weight ranging from 2165 to 2285 kg, it's one of the lighter electric utes available. And it doesn't compromise on power, boasting a 152 kW motor in the RWD version, with the AWD variant offering even more muscle.

The Musso EV's battery is a powerhouse, too. The 80.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack provides an impressive range of up to 420 km for the RWD model and 380 km for AWD on the WLTP cycle. And when it's time to recharge, it's lightning-fast, capable of charging from 20-80% in just 31 minutes at 120 kW.

This ute is packed with features that cater to lifestyle drivers. It includes adaptive cruise control, LED lighting, a panoramic display, and a host of comfort and convenience amenities. The 2WD 'Black Edge' edition adds a touch of luxury with leather and suede seats, while the AWD variant provides enhanced traction for various terrains.

And KGM hasn't skimped on safety, either. The Musso EV is equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, ensuring peace of mind on the road. But the real game-changer is the vehicle's warranty: a 7-year unlimited-kilometer warranty on the vehicle and a class-leading 10-year unlimited-kilometer warranty on the battery pack.

The KGM Musso EV is set to arrive at select dealers in November, with official sales kicking off on December 1, 2025. This launch is a significant step towards making electric utes more accessible and appealing to Australian drivers. But will it live up to the hype? And how will it fare against future competitors? The electric ute market is about to get a lot more exciting, and we can't wait to see what's next!

Comment below: Do you think the KGM Musso EV will be a game-changer in the Australian market? What features would you like to see in future electric ute models?
